Checkout & Payment

Choose delivery or pickup, then pay online, use eligible delivery COD, or select Pay at shop where offered for pickup.

Checkout is two steps: your shipping details first, then payment. You need to be signed in or have entered guest details to reach checkout.

The checkout flow

Cart → Step 1: Shipping address + delivery option → Step 2: Payment → Order placed → Confirmation

Enter or choose a shipping address

If you're signed in and have saved addresses, pick one. Otherwise fill in your address — as you type your pincode, the store checks whether it can deliver there and shows an estimated delivery window.

Choose a delivery option

If the store has courier rate-shopping enabled, you'll see one or more delivery options with their cost, grouped by warehouse if your order ships from more than one location. Pick one per group; the shipping total updates to match. If you chose pick up in store on the cart page (see Cart & Wishlist), this step is replaced by a summary confirming the location you picked, and shipping cost is zero. When the store has exactly one eligible pickup location, choosing pickup in the cart selects it automatically before checkout.

Review your order summary

The order summary panel shows every item, quantity, subtotal, shipping cost, any coupon discount, and the total you'll pay. If the store offers gift wrap, its toggle is here too — turn it on (and add a personal message, if the store allows it) right up until you pay; the fee, if any, is added to your total the moment you turn it on.

Choose a payment method

For delivery, pick online payment (card, UPI, netbanking, wallets — via Razorpay) or Cash on Delivery, if the store allows COD for your address. For pickup, choose Pay at shop if the store offers it for your selected pickup location, or use an available online payment method. COD is not offered for pickup orders. An optional shipping-insurance opt-in may appear for delivery too.

Pay and confirm

For online payment, complete the Razorpay checkout window that opens. For delivery COD, confirm the order — nothing is charged online. If Pay at shop is offered, select it and then choose Place Order (Pay at shop). No online payment is needed now; the shop collects payment on the original order when you collect it. After the order is placed successfully, check its confirmation before trying again.

Why did checkout switch my order from pickup to delivery?

Pickup requires every product in the bag to allow it. If a delivery-only item was added after you chose pickup, checkout switches to delivery, clears the pickup location, and shows Store pickup isn't available for everything in your bag, so this order will be delivered. Remove the delivery-only item and wait for the updated bag to become pickup-eligible; the note then clears and you can choose Pick up in store again from the cart. The same switch happens when no pickup location has stock for everything in your bag; adjust the bag and choose pickup again from the cart.

Bundles at checkout

Rolling out: not yet available on all stores

Bundles are switched off by default and only appear once the store has them enabled.

If your cart holds a bundle, the order summary shows its items grouped under the bundle, each with its net line total (after its share of the bundle saving), and a Bundle savings line. The savings amount is informational, with no minus sign, because the subtotal and total already include the bundle price. Checkout is read-only for bundles: change the number of sets, remove a bundle or restore a changed one in the cart. If the store changed a bundle's price after you added it and you press pay before accepting it, checkout stops with "A bundle in your cart was updated. Review the new price in your cart." and takes you back to the Cart page, where Accept new price appears on that bundle.

Payment methods

MethodWhat happens
Card / UPI / netbanking / walletsHandled through Razorpay's secure checkout popup — you never enter card details on the store's own page
Cash on Delivery (COD)Delivery only: pay the courier when your order arrives; available by default unless the store explicitly turned it off, and subject to the delivery zone or pincode's COD rule. Not offered for pickup.
Pay at shopShown only when the store offers it for your selected pickup location. Pay at collection through the shop's cash, UPI or card counter flow on your original pickup order. If you prepaid online, only handover remains; do not pay again.

Note

Online payment isn't guaranteed to be configured on every store. Checkout keeps it unavailable while it checks the store's payment status and enables it only after an active gateway is confirmed. This public check also works for guests. A pending or failed check leaves online payment unavailable, but it does not turn off Cash on Delivery for eligible deliveries. If the store has no saved COD setting, checkout treats delivery COD as on; COD is not offered for pickup orders.

For pickup, when online payment is unavailable and Pay at shop is offered for your selected pickup location, the banner says Online payment is unavailable. You can still place your order and pay at the shop counter when you collect it. Select Pay at shop, then Place Order (Pay at shop) to place the pickup order without paying online. If the store does not offer Pay at shop for that location, this banner does not promise counter payment.

Why doesn't Cash on Delivery show?

For a delivery, confirm the store has not explicitly turned COD off, then check whether the delivery zone or the six-digit pincode rule allows Cash on delivery for this address. A configured online gateway does not control COD, and a missing online-payment setup does not hide COD by itself.

Why can't my customer choose COD for pickup?

COD is not offered for pickup orders, even when it is enabled for delivery. Choose Pay at shop only if the store offers it for your selected pickup location, or use an available online payment method. A stale COD submission shows Cash on Delivery is not available for pickup. Choose Pay at shop or an online payment method. If Pay at shop is no longer available when you submit, you see Pay at shop is unavailable. Choose another payment method or check your pickup location. At collection, the shop opens the original order in Orders → Pickups in POS, collects any Pay at shop balance, then uses Hand over order. A prepaid pickup is handover-only. See Pickup Collection for the shop's steps and disabled controls.

Shipping insurance opt-in

On the payment step, some stores offer an optional checkbox: "Protect your order against loss/damage." It covers your order up to its declared value.

  • The surcharge is 1% of your cart total, with a minimum of ₹10 and a maximum of ₹50 — so it's ₹10 on anything under ₹1,000, and capped at ₹50 no matter how large the order.
  • Checking the box adds the surcharge as its own line item in your order summary immediately.
  • To make a claim on a lost or damaged shipment, open a support ticket with the merchant — there's no separate self-service claim form.

If payment fails or is interrupted

If your card is charged but the store's confirmation step doesn't complete right away (a network hiccup, for example), the checkout page shows a retry option rather than silently failing — use it before trying to pay again from scratch, so you don't get charged twice.

Don't close the payment window early

If you close the Razorpay window mid-payment, the checkout page shows an error and lets you try again. If you're ever unsure whether a payment went through, check My Orders for a newly-created order before retrying.

After you pay

You're taken to an order confirmation page showing your order number, items, and delivery address — or, for a pickup order, the location you're collecting from instead. From here you can go straight to tracking, or come back to it later from My Orders.

Next steps

When the customer profile cannot place an order

Checkout checks the customer in the current store before creating the order. An inactive or locked profile is refused; a merged-away profile cannot place the order as that old identity. Ask the shop to resolve the profile or identify the surviving profile, then return to the same store's checkout. A profile belonging to another store cannot be used. This check does not turn a refused order into a successful payment: review the existing order and payment result before attempting payment again.

Why does signing in not let me place this order? Signing in and eligibility to create an order are separate checks. Ask the shop about the stated inactive, locked or merged status; do not create a second profile merely to bypass it.
