Settings Hub & Preferences
The single entry point for store configuration, notification and shipping-provider preferences, and your personal display preferences.
Settings is where store configuration lives — most of the screens in this guide that aren't reachable from a left-navigation link are reachable from here instead.
Screen: click Settings at the bottom of the left navigation to land on the Settings hub.
Note
Several settings screens are reached only through this hub, not a direct left-nav shortcut. Get in the habit of starting from Settings and picking a card, rather than expecting every screen to have its own sidebar entry.
Why is Save greyed out?
Settings screens share one save bar. Its status text names the state, and a greyed-out Save is always one of these:
- Saving…: a save is already running. Save and Discard are both off until it finishes.
- Changes need attention: a value is invalid. The reason is printed on the bar; fix that field and Save turns on.
- No changes yet: nothing has changed since the last save. On screens that hide the bar until you edit something, you will not see this state at all.
Screen readers read the bar's status text as the description of the disabled Save button, so the reason is announced as well as shown.
Planned: Multi-store and BillionBiz support
Two preview entries sit next to the settings screens. In the new admin sidebar, open Settings and you will see Multi-store and BillionBiz support in the list, each marked Planned. In the classic sidebar they are under Plugins. Multi-store is headed "Run every store from one login." and previews switching stores in one click, seeing orders and revenue for all stores together, and setting access per store; today each store has its own login. BillionBiz support previews raising requests with the BillionBiz team from inside the panel (see Support Tickets & Admin Notifications). Neither page is functional yet: each has a Coming soon badge, a sample preview, and an Email waitlist request button that opens an email to contact@billionbiz.store. Both pages open for store Admin and Super Admin logins only.
The Store group
Cards here cover how your storefront behaves day to day. This group only appears if your account includes an online store (hosting-only accounts without a storefront don't see it).
| Card | What it covers |
|---|---|
| General | Store name, contact details, currency, timezone, and weight unit |
| Notifications | Email and SMS notifications customers receive, and when each is sent — opens the same screen as Notification Preferences below |
| WhatsApp alerts | The WhatsApp messages BillionBiz sends to your own number, your alert choices, and a log of what was sent — see WhatsApp Alerts from BillionBiz |
| Templates & Documents | Email/SMS templates, invoice template designer, invoice configuration |
| Checkout | Checkout fields, guest checkout, terms & conditions — coming soon |
| Domains | Your store URL, custom domain, SSL status, DNS guidance |
| Maintenance | Maintenance mode, holiday banner, scheduled downtime |
| Product badges | How long recently created products receive the automatic New badge |
| Trust badges | The ordered, store-wide reassurance badges shown on product pages |
| Customer sign-in | Whether your storefront login and register pages offer Continue with Google — Owner and Store Admin only, paid plans only (see below) |
| Delivery | Exact-pincode overrides for serviceability, cash on delivery, and delivery time |
| Notification Preferences | Email/SMS delivery toggles per store event (see below) |
| Shipping Provider Preferences | Priority order for your shipping providers (see below) |
Product badges
Go to Settings → Product badges. Under New badge window, enter Number of days and select Save. A product is considered new from its creation date for that many days; the field's preview states how long the New badge will appear.
- Enter a whole number from 1 to 365. Blank, fractional, zero, negative, or larger values are rejected with Enter a whole number from 1 to 365.
- Save is disabled while the value is invalid, unchanged, or already saving.
- If the setting cannot be loaded, no editable form is shown; select Retry.
Why doesn't a product show New?
Confirm the product is within the saved creation-date window, not merely recently edited. Also confirm the active product-card template displays automatic badges. Changing this setting does not rewrite a product's creation date.
Trust badges
In both the new and classic admin themes, go to Settings → Trust badges. The Settings hub card
and direct route /settings/trust-badges open the same store-wide list. These badges no longer live
on an individual product.
Add the badge
Select Add badge. Enter a required Badge key and Label, then optionally enter an Icon URL (optional). The key identifies the record; the label is the customer-facing reassurance text.
Choose whether customers can see it
Leave Active on to make the saved badge eligible for product pages. Turning Active off keeps the badge in Settings but hides it from the product editor summary and storefront.
Order or remove badges
Use Move up and Move down to set the display order. Delete removes a row from the draft. Review the complete list before saving because Save replaces the store's existing ordered list with the list on screen.
Save the list
Select Save. Badge key and Label cannot be blank; Save stays disabled while a row is invalid or while a save is already running. Leading and trailing spaces are removed, and a blank Icon URL is saved as no icon.
The new Products → Add product / Edit page and the classic Inventory → Edit Product dialog show a read-only summary of active badges. Select Edit in Settings from that summary to return to this screen. The classic Add Product dialog does not repeat badge inputs; badge settings apply across the store instead.
Why don't my trust badges show?
First open Settings → Trust badges. If the list could not load, select Retry before drawing any conclusion from an empty screen. Confirm at least one badge has both required fields, is Active, and the list was saved. Then enable Show trust badges in the product-page template, save and publish that layout, and open a fresh storefront product URL. If only the icon is missing, check that its optional URL is still publicly reachable. A failed save shows an error and leaves the list on screen for another attempt. An account without branding access does not see the Settings card.
Delivery rules by pincode
Go to Settings → Delivery to override delivery-zone defaults for one exact pincode.
Enter the pincode
Under Add pincode rule, enter a six-digit Pincode. Non-digits are removed and the field accepts at most six digits. The pincode cannot be changed while editing a saved rule.
Choose the exceptions
For Deliver here and Cash on delivery, choose Use delivery-zone default, Yes, or No. Leave a choice on the default unless this pincode needs an exception. Optionally enter Delivery days as zero or a whole number.
Save and review
Select Add rule. Saved rules appear in Pincode rules and take priority over delivery-zone defaults. Use the edit action to change values and Update, or Cancel to abandon an edit.
Deleting a rule opens Delete this pincode rule? and explains that delivery-zone defaults will apply to that pincode. Confirm only when that fallback is intended. With no rules, all pincodes use their delivery-zone defaults. If rules fail to load, select Retry before making changes.
Why is checkout still using the delivery-zone value?
Check that the customer's pincode exactly matches the saved six-digit rule. A field left on Use delivery-zone default intentionally inherits the zone value, while the other fields can still be overridden independently.
Customer sign-in (Continue with Google)
Go to Settings → Customer sign-in (direct address: /settings/customer-sign-in). The card is in
the Store group, so it is not shown on hosting-only accounts, and it appears only for the
Owner and Store Admin roles. The page works the same on the classic and new admin skins;
only the card styling differs.
The page is titled Customer sign-in ("Choose how customers can sign in to your storefront.") and holds one Google card with a single switch.
Open the page and check the plan
While the page loads you see a spinner. If your store is on Starter, Growth, Pro or Max, the switch is live. On the Free plan (or any plan that does not include it) the switch is greyed out and an upgrade prompt for Google sign-in for customers appears beneath it. The prompt only offers a plan above the one you hold; it never suggests a plan you are already on or have outgrown. If BillionBiz cannot check your plan at that moment, the switch stays greyed out and a neutral line reads "We couldn't check your plan right now. Reload to try again." with no upgrade button: reload the page, and the real state loads.
Turn on Let customers continue with Google
Flip Let customers continue with Google. There is no Save button — the change is saved the moment you flip it, and a message confirms: "Google sign-in is now on for your store." Flip it off again for "Google sign-in is now off for your store." The switch is disabled for the instant a save is running.
Check your storefront
Open your store's Login and Register pages in a fresh tab (reload if they were already open). Each now shows a Continue with Google button. Nothing else about those pages changes.
The switch starts off for every store until you turn it on. The helper text under it reads: "When on, your customer login and sign-up pages show a "Continue with Google" button. Customers sign in with their Google account instead of a password. If a customer already has an account with the same email, they confirm their password once to connect Google." The full customer walkthrough is in Creating an Account & Signing In.
Things worth knowing
- Custom domains need no extra setup. The sign-in starts and finishes on the address the customer is browsing — your BillionBiz store address or a custom domain connected to your store — and customers return to that same address.
- Google never creates a duplicate. A shopper whose Google email matches an existing customer account is asked for that account's password once, then Google is connected to the existing account. A new Google email creates a new customer automatically, from their Google name and email.
- Only Google-verified emails work. A Google account with an unverified email can't sign in.
- If your plan drops below the feature, the button disappears from your storefront and the switch locks with the upgrade prompt. Your on/off choice is kept and applies again after you upgrade. Existing customers can still sign in with email and password, or use Forgot password.
- Turning it off stops the storefront offering the button (a page that was already open keeps showing it until reloaded); customer accounts and their stored details are not deleted.
- Admin sign-in is separate. Your team signs in to the Admin Panel with Google through the Sign In screen and Profile → Security, not this switch (see Signing In, Password Reset & Team Invites).
Why don't customers see Continue with Google?
Work down this list. (1) Open Settings → Customer sign-in: is Let customers continue with Google on? A greyed-out switch with an upgrade prompt means your plan doesn't include it — upgrade from Billing & Plan. A greyed-out switch with the line "We couldn't check your plan right now. Reload to try again." and no upgrade button is a temporary plan-check failure, not a missing plan: reload the page, and if it persists, wait a minute and try again. (2) Confirm your account has a storefront; hosting-only accounts have no Customer sign-in card at all. (3) Reload the storefront login page in a fresh tab or private window — an old tab keeps the old page. (4) Check you are looking at the Login or Register page of the store itself — that is where the button appears. (5) If customers click it and come back to Login with "Google sign-in is not available right now", the switch was turned off, the plan lapsed, or there was a short service problem — re-check steps 1–2 and try again.
Settings won't load
If the page shows "Could not load customer sign-in settings.", select Retry. Until it loads you can't change the switch, and a failed save leaves it as it was with the message "Could not update customer sign-in."
The Account & Access group
| Card | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Team | Invite teammates, assign roles and permissions; the card opens the Team page (/team) — see Team: People, Seats & Access |
| Billing & Plan | Subscription, payment method, invoices, plan upgrades — see Plans & Billing |
| Audit Logs | Who changed what, when, and from where — see Audit Logs |
| Preferences | Theme, language, SSO, API access, and personal preferences (see below) |
Notification Preferences
This screen (Settings → Notification Preferences, same screen the Notifications card under Store opens) is an event-by-channel matrix covering email and SMS only (WhatsApp messaging is configured separately — see WhatsApp Integration; the WhatsApp alerts BillionBiz sends to you have their own page at Settings → WhatsApp alerts, covered in WhatsApp Alerts from BillionBiz). For each store event, toggle email and SMS delivery on or off independently, and open a template to customize its subject and body for that channel.
Alerts to you: emails to your own admin inbox
Below the customer-facing matrix, an Alerts To You section (styled as lower-case "alerts to you." on the newer v2 sidebar) holds two toggles that email you — the store admin — rather than your customers:
| Toggle | Sends an email to your admin account when | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Email me when a new order arrives | A new order is placed on your store. | On |
| Email me on low or out-of-stock alerts | A simple item or active variant makes its product cross into Low Stock, or the product runs out. | Off |
As of 2026-09-16, "Email me when a new order arrives" is on by default for every store — existing stores and new ones alike, including stores that have never opened this screen. You don't need to do anything to start receiving it. "Email me on low or out-of-stock alerts" is unchanged: still off by default, opt-in only. A footnote under the two toggles spells out the split: new-order alerts are on by default, low-stock alerts are off by default.
If you'd rather not get the new-order email, turn it off from Settings → Notification Preferences (or the Notifications card under Store, described above) → the Alerts To You table → toggle Email me when a new order arrives off. Whatever you set here always wins over the default — turning it off keeps it off even though new stores now start with it on, and turning low-stock alerts on keeps them on.
The new-order email includes the order number, the customer's name, the order total, and your store's display name — not an internal store ID. (An earlier build showed the store's internal ID in this email instead of its actual name; if you received one of those, that's now fixed and later emails show your real store/company name.)
No configurable recipient address
These alerts always go to your store admin account's own login email — there is no field to enter a different or additional address. If you want a different inbox (a shared ops mailbox, for example), you'll need to forward from the admin account's inbox; there's no way to redirect these two alerts from this screen.
Troubleshooting: why aren't I getting order or stock emails?
Check three things in order: (1) the two toggles here have different defaults — new-order alerts are on by default, but low-stock alerts are opt-in, so confirm you've actually turned that one on if you want it (and confirm you haven't turned new-order alerts off, if you expected them and aren't seeing them); (2) these emails only ever reach the store admin account's own email address, so check that inbox (and spam folder) rather than any other team member's; (3) for the low-stock alert specifically, confirm a stock edit moved the product from not low to low. For a product with options, one active variant at or below the product's threshold is enough, but no repeat is sent while another variant already keeps the product low — see Inventory & Stock for how that threshold is set.
Shipping Provider Preferences
This screen (Settings → Shipping Provider Preferences) lists the shipping providers your store has configured. Drag a provider to reorder the list — the provider at the top becomes your default for auto-fulfillment, and the ones below it are tried as fallbacks in order. Click Save once you're happy with the order; unsaved changes are discarded if you navigate away.
Preferences
The Preferences screen (Settings → Preferences) holds settings that apply across your whole admin experience:
What's on this screen
- Appearance — toggle light or dark mode; the choice is remembered across sessions.
- Notifications — enable or disable in-app notifications (the bell badge) for order alerts, messages, and system events.
- Dashboard language — choose English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, or Arabic; Arabic switches the whole layout to right-to-left automatically.
- Store defaults — default currency (INR, USD, EUR, GBP, AED, or SGD), weight unit (grams, kilograms or pounds), default shipping cost, and default shipping mode (Surface or Express). Click Save defaults to apply.
- Payment gateway — a summary card for your connected payment gateway; full setup lives under Plugins.
Choose the weight unit
The weight unit is the unit product weights and shipping weights are shown in. Choose it in either place; both write the same store setting.
- Open Settings → Preferences, find Store defaults, and pick the unit in the weight unit control. On the classic layout it is a dropdown labelled Weight Unit; on the v2 layout it is a segmented control labelled Weight unit. Click Save defaults.
- Or open the General card from the Settings hub and pick the unit in Weight Unit (classic dropdown, with the hint "For product weights & shipping") or Weight unit (v2 segmented control), then save.
The three choices are Grams (g), Kilograms (kg) and Pounds (lb). A new store starts on grams. A store created earlier with the older stored values "grams" or "kilograms" shows as Grams (g) or Kilograms (kg) and keeps working; saving the screen stores the short form (g, kg or lb). Re-check product weights after you change units.
A store whose saved value is not one of the three shows Grams (g) until you save.
Advanced, plan-gated capabilities
Three capabilities are visible to every merchant on this screen but only unlock on plans that include them — each shows a lock icon and the plan tier required until you upgrade:
- Single Sign-On (SSO) — let your team log in with your company's existing identity provider.
- Developer / API Access — generate credentials to connect BillionBiz to your own tools.
- Custom Staff Roles — define permission sets beyond the five built-in roles.
If any of these aren't included in your plan, the description tells you which tier unlocks it — go to Plans & Billing to upgrade.
Note
AI-driven "smart defaults" for Preferences are shown as a coming-soon teaser on this screen — not a working feature yet.
